All About Jake

Also known as the "Jake of All Trades"...

My path to being a professional programmer was circuitous to say the least. While I always loved computers, probably too much for my parents' tastes, I never fully commited to coding. I would putz, tinker, break stuff, play games, and get into trouble with them as much as possible. I even programmed a little BASIC when I was younger.

But for some reason, I thought that I just wasn't cut out for programming; I had never stopped dabbling and even took a course on Computer Science at UC Berkeley, but I just didn't stick with it. That all changed when the opportunity to make an internal tool at my job arose and I jumped at it. From that point forward, I just kept learning and picking up more and more.

My main areas of interest are game development, emulation, web servers, and language design. That being said, I never limit myself; I'm the "Jake of All Trades" after all!

Outside of the programming, I play music (mostly bass & keyboards), draw, cycle, and play video games. I'm also really into movies and spend probably way too much time thinking and talking about them. Feel free to hit me up on the socials below if you want to talk.
